SAFARI IN MOZAMBIQUE

Have you ever dreamt of hunting the true wilderness of Africa, a place that is reminiscent of a bygone era, where big game have the right of way, where wildlife roam free, where local human population is largely unaffected by the pressure of the modern world ?

Nestled between the Luangwa River and Lake Cahora Bassa, lies “Chawalo Lodge”. Sheltered by an ancient Baobab tree, on the northern bank of the Zambezi, the lodge affords a breathtaking view towards the west, across the river where elephant, hippo and fish eagle abound. Magnificent sunsets over the river are the order of the day !

Included in daily rates :

  • Service of professional hunter
  • Accomodation during the hunt
  • Meals and all drinks (spirits excluded)
  • Service of camp staff, skinner and trackers
  • Fiel processing of trophies
  • Land transport within the hunting area.

Excluded from daily rates :

  • All gratuities to PH and staff
  • Trophy documentation, dipping, packing, shipping of trophies
  • Hotel accomodation before and after safari
  • Air or ground transfer to and from hunting area.

Travel arrangements

Depending on the airline clients travel to either Johannesburg, South Africa, then take a commercial flight early in the morning to Lusaka; alternately they would fly direct into Lusaka. From Lusaka air charter or ground transport to camp.

Booking requirements

A deposit of 50% of the daily rate or package will secure your booking.
The balance of the daily rate and all additional expenses are due 60 days prior to the beginning of the safari. This includes: hunting license, firearm import permit, airport taxes, visa and charter flight (if chosen).

Payment

Daily rates are charged per hunting day, not by night in camp.
Payment of those constitutes consent to all terms and conditions and that all terms and conditions are understood.
Trophy and license fees are payable on all animals either killed or wounded and must be paid prior to departure from hunting camp.
A good practice is to pre-pay this by means of a bank deposit in our bank to avoid having to carry large sums of cash.
All payment are to be made in either cash or bank guaranteed drafts is us$ or into our USA account.
All local payments to be made in cash please.
Sorry, no traveller’s cheque.

Cancellation

The deposit is the confirmation of the agreement between the hunter and the outfitter, a cancellation must therefore be made in writing and receipt thereof acknowledged by the outfitter. Deposit is not refundable.
In the event of cancellation, the client will either forfeit the deposit or find someone “to take over” his obligation.
In the cancellation takes place more than 12 months prior the planned safari starting date, the client may reschedule his safari to a date that is mutually agreed upon.
No refund will be given for circumstances arising beyond the outfitter control, or if client is leaving the safari area early.

Insurance

Client should arrange their own travel insurance, the outfitter cannot accept liability for injuries to person or damage to equipment. We strongly recommend that you obtain insurance commercially available for accidental disability or death, emergency medical evacuation, trip cancellation and liability. Global recue is advised.

Export of trophies

A dedicated dip & Pack agent is used to export trophies, details on request. 

After a full day’s hunting whilst taking in the breasthtaking landscape you will welcome the comfort of Chawalo Lodge, the campfire will be burning, with plentiful snacks and ice cold drinks on offer.

FISHING IN MOZAMBIQUE

Nestled between the Luangwa River and Lake Cahora Bassa lies “Chawalo Lodge”. Sheltered by an ancient Baobab tree, on the northern bank of the Zambezi, the lodge affords a breathtaking view towards the west, across the river where elephants, hippo and fish eagles abound. Magnificent sunset over the river are the order of the day. 

Yves-Olivier Safari, together with Russel & Julie Lovemore, organizes Fishing safaris at “Chawalo Lodge”. The area boats over 100km of river frontage on the mighty Zambezi and the Luangwa rivers which makes this the perfect area for fishing adventure to test your skills against the famous Tiger Fish. Our guests can enjoy some of the finest Tiger Fishing available whilst on their safari, as well as some great fishing for the lesser known but as exciting Vundu. For those interested in birding, Chawalo offers excellent opportunities to spot some of the rare species. It is truly a birders paradise with an impressive list of raptors as well.

Chawalo Lodge

Chawalo Lodge can accommodate 10 guests maximum.
For big group, please contact us to organise dates for you to have sole use of the lodge during your stay.

3 people/boat = 9 fishermen
2 people/boat = 8 fishermen

Rates for 2016

We accept party starting with at least 4 fishermen.

The usual is a 7 night safari, from Friday to Friday

– 3 people / boat: € 1900 each
– 2 people / boat: € 2000 each
– Non fishing guest: € 1200 each (when possible)

Included in rates

– Ground transport Lusaka to Luangwa by minibus (3h50).
– Boat transfer Luangwa to camp, and return to Lusaka.
– Full boarding, snacks & drinks on the boat.
– Drinks : bottled water & local beers.
– Use of 40 litres petrol /day /boat.
– Use fishing on modern aluminium boat with a guide.
– Bait, fishing licence, community levy.

Excluded from rates

– International flights to and from Lusaka.
– Return air charter Lusaka-Zumbo if you choose this option.
– Use of our fishing tackle. We highly suggest you bring your own, especially for fly fishing.
– Cost of our fishing tackles and lures if damaged or lost by you.
– Wine and alcohol.
– All gratuities to guide and staff.

At night, the air is filled with laughter and stories about the day’s events whilst listening to lions roaring and hyena’s laughing is the distance. The camp cooks will amaze you with exceptional cuisine created with fresh ingredients from our garden or sourced from local villages.
